At the Library
 
The Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library has announced events for August.

A Centennial Celebration for artist Leo Politi will be held Sat., Aug. 23. The event will include sidewalk chalk art for children from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., presentations about the artist at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and displays of Politi's work.  Politi wrote and illustrated more than 20 children's books. His story "Song of the Swallows" won the Caldecott Medal in 1950.

•The library will host 30minute story times for children entering kindergarten.
Story times will be held at 1:30 and 7 p.m. Wed., Aug. 20 at the library.
An 11 a.m. story time will be held Thurs., Aug. 21 at the Newbury Park Branch Library, 2331 Borchard Road.
The program features stories, rhymes and fingerplays to help ease children's first day jitters.
